From the Opening of the Tall Trees Art Exhibition on Saturday morning to the close on Sunday afternoon this Noosa Hinterland village was buzzing with the fabulous welcoming vibe of this annual community event.
A total of 10 venues along the main street showcased a great variety of artworks from Sunshine Coast and Noosa Hinterland artists. The transformation of the historic Cooran Hall into a well curated gallery was again something to behold.
There was something for everyone besides the great artwork, from live music up and down the street, a mini art market and kids activities in Pioneer Park, kids heritage trail, guided heritage town walk, poetry and story slams in the Cooran Brewery and more...
A comment from our visitor survey ‘Loved the vibe, the art, the community feel. Great variety this time with lots of music all throughout the street.’
A highlight of the event was a live portrait painting session in oils each day by Boreen Point artist Ellenie Faith Kirkman which saw close likenesses of both models emerge in just a few hours from the blank canvases, by this talented 17 year old.
The Saturday evening get together was well attended with a wearable art fashion parade followed by some great music by band Groove Union. Huge images of the artworks entered into the exhibition were projected onto the back wall of the hall and kids had fun drawing with fluro pens.
At the closing in the Hall on Sunday, a number of prizes were announced to some lucky artists including the People’s Choice award sponsored by the Majestic Theatre Pomona, which had a cash prize of $250 - won by Keisha Sunderland.
Winner of the Eumundi Voice Magazine Youth Prize was 15 year old Jozi Pride who was awarded a Highly Commended prize last year. She was inspired to enter work after being part of the first Small Trees exhibition in 2021 for 6 to 12 year olds.
The Tall Trees Art Inc. committee who brings this event to the community, stated that ‘The return of our much loved event in 2023 was a triumph and this year's event was another great success, with a few new additions to the program and more prizes and awards for artists.’
